Should I Stick While The Light Is On?

One of the most useful ways to use vein visualization to start an IV is to follow these steps:
  1. Use the device hand-held to scan the non-dominant arm followed by the dominant arm;
  2. Once a suitable vein is identified, use the wipe technique to verify patency;
  3. Move the device to the wheeled stand and then reposition over the identified location;
  4. Proceed with the normal cannulation procedure.
